Renowned analyst  Ming-Chi Kuo  claims that Apple will ship the iPhone 13 with a more compact notch, taking advantage of the space saved to increase the battery capacity of the device.

In addition, Apple has just received a new patent from the US Patent and Trademark Office for an optical sensor integrated into the phone panel. It is likely that this sensor acts as a fingerprint scanner and creates a 3D map of the face. It can even be customized as a selfie camera. In other words, this could become Touch ID, Face ID and even the selfie camera below the screen. If this technology is successfully applied on the iPhone 13, it is possible that the notch will be removed and this will be the first full-screen iPhone that Apple brings to users.

Equipped with 120Hz . ProMotion OLED screen

It is likely that Apple will use  120Hz ProMotion OLED panels  on the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max. This will allow the company to better categorize its 'Pro' versions against the rest of the variants. Apple will also use on-cell touch screens on all four iPhone 13 models. 

There were rumors that Apple would use a 120Hz OLED panel on the iPhone 12, but that did not happen. However, by the time the iPhone 13 launches this year, the technology behind the LTPO OLED panel with a dynamic 120Hz refresh rate will be more mature, allowing Apple to adopt it on the iPhone.

Camera is perfect, bring the best experience

If before, the main camera was raised on the surface of the rear panel and the individual lenses protruded higher, now the entire camera assembly will be covered by a common protective glass.

Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has predicted that the iPhone 13 Pro models, Apple will bring some major improvements to the ultra-wide-angle camera. They will have  a  much wider f/1.8 aperture with a 6P lens . The new sensor will also feature autofocus to enable macro photography. Apple will also use the same ultra-wide-angle setup on its 2022 iPhone 14 series.

A new report from DigiTimes claims that the entire iPhone 13 lineup is expected to use  the LiDar scanner  and won't be limited to the Pro models.

The LiDAR scanner on the iPhone not only improves depth detection for the camera, but also proves highly accurate for Augmented Reality. Apple has been focusing a lot on AR lately, and that could be one of the reasons to integrate sensors across its entire lineup this year.

Connector: Support Wifi 6E, 5G

Rumors suggest that some 2021 iPhones could support  single 5G band  , work on mmWave networks or sub-6GHz networks, but not both, allowing Apple to save money in countries where 5G mmWave networks are not available. . The faster mmWave 5G technology could also expand to other countries.

Barclays analysts believe that the iPhone 13 models will support  WiFi 6E , offering WiFi 6 features and capabilities   extended to the 6GHz band. WiFi 6 offers higher performance, lower latency, and faster data rates, while WiFi 6E's additional spectrum provides more bandwidth than existing 2.4 and 5GHz WiFi bands.

According to  Jon Presser,  besides an iPhone 13 model without a connector, the remaining models still use the traditional Lightning port. Previously, there were rumors that Apple also had plans to launch an iPhone without a connection port instead of a  USB Type C charging port  like other Android phone models.

Faster wireless reverse charging

According to information from the FCC, this year's iPhone 13 still supports faster wireless reverse charging. Documents from the FCC say that this year's new generation iPhones are well compatible with  Qi charging standards  and also feature charging at 360 kHz, also known as reverse charging for other types of wireless accessories.

Storage capacity up to 1TB

 According to the latest report, Apple may launch a 1TB storage variant  for the iPhone 13 Pro series later this year. This is twice the amount of storage when compared to the model with the highest internal memory in the current iPhone 12 series. The iPhone XS was Apple's first phone to come with 512GB of internal storage, and since then, the company has continued to launch this version for the iPhone 11 and iPhone 12 series.

In addition to the upgraded internal memory, this year's iPhone 13 series is also rumored to bring a few other upgrades and improvements. These rumored features include a more compact notch, a powerful A15 chip, an upgraded rear camera system, Wi-Fi 6E support and especially the Touch ID fingerprint sensor technology under the screen.
